Making simple changes to your diet is the most realistic way to break bad eating habits.

Here are 5 Nutritionist-approved healthy beverages that are packed with nutrients, and even have metabolism boosting benefits!

Do your health a favour and swap your usual favourites for these healthier options. Swap a high-sugar fruit juice, alcohol or soft drink for any of the healthier beverages below.

1. Green Tea

Green tea has been named the healthiest beverage in the world. It has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as being loaded with antioxidants! Sipping on green tea daily is a great alternative to black tea and coffee. It is fantastic for general health, boosting your metabolism and supporting skin health.

2. Kombucha

Kombucha is a type of fermented tea. As a result of the fermentation process, kombucha is a great source of beneficial bacteria, and wonderful probiotic-rich beverage. Kombucha is also a great non-alcoholic party, drink and healthy alternative to soft drink. For more about gut health Click HERE to read '7 Steps to a Healthy Gut'.

3. Water with lemon

Never underestimate the benefits of warm lemon water. Drinking lemon water 20 minutes before a meal can support the digestive process by increasing the secretion of hydrochloric acid which help the break down of proteins and improves overall digestion.

4. Cold pressed vegetable juice/smoothies

Cold pressed vegetable juice and smoothies are the fastest way to get nutrients into your blood stream! We all know we could always benefit from including more fresh vegetables in our diet. Vegetable juice and green smoothies are a convenient way to increase your daily vitamin and mineral intake.

5. Healthier Hot Chocolate

Instead of using regular cocoa and refined sugar, making a healthier hot chocolate (out of one of the world's best superfoods) is an easy way to satisfy your inner chocoholic and bump up your mineral intake! You could also swap refined sugars for honey or stevia to make it even healthier - click HERE for my Healthy Hot Chocolate Recipe.

Did you know, raw cacao has 7 times more antioxidants than dark chocolate and 21 times more antioxidants than green tea. It also contains magnesium, potassium, protein, iron and calcium! For more about raw cacao, check out this article.
