NEW YEAR, NEW YOU.

Make it your year!

A new year symbolizes a fresh start and clean slate. You can choose to make it everything you want it to be.

Its time to kick butt and achieve all those health goals!

Goal setting:

Jot down in an exercise book or diary a list of goals you wish to achieve during the new year. Allocate different sections for long term and short term goals. A great tip when achieving bigger goals is to break them down and start small.

For example, if one of you're goals was to eat better this year, break it down! Every 2-4 weeks (depending on what works for you) make one small change to your diet. e.g. start by

swapping white bread to whole meal/brown bread. Another one would be to start drinking more water, add an extra 2 cups per week, or to start eating more salads and greens. If you take it slow these changes won't be as overwhelming so you will be more likely to stick to them.

Stay accountable!

Find a friend or family member to keep you accountable with your goals, check in with them every few weeks or each month depending on your goal. This year one of my goals is to only consume alcohol a maximum of 5 times this year, one of my friends agreed to join me so we both decided to check in with each other if we had a drink and use up one of our 'tokens'!

Make a vision board

Vision boards are a great way to stay motivated and focused! A vision board can be anything you want it to be. Start off with some cardboard and stick on pictures or snippets out of a magazine that feel right for you. e.g. If there is a country you want to travel too or goal you want to achieve put an image of this country/goal on your vision board. Keep it on your desk, or back of the door, anywhere that you will see it each day to remind you of your goals and keep you motivated and focused.
